Called to be the church in a time like this.

“That is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us. So we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us; we entreat you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.”
—2 Corinthians 5:19-20

Dear advocates and friends,

If you haven’t yet heard, we are sad to report that the headquarters of Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria (EYN, the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria) was recently taken over by Boko Haram extremist insurgents. Please refer to the following Newsline piece for more information:www.brethren.org/news/2014/nigerian-brethren-headquarters-overtaken-by-insurgents.html

More information on the broader conflict can be found through a videotaped presentation from Global Mission and Service staff Jay Wittmeyer and Roy Winter.

On behalf of EYN, we ask for your continued prayers for all those who have been affected by violence and displacement. May Christ’s peace and comfort surround them.

As we keep our Nigerian sisters and brothers in our hearts and minds, we also draw your attention to the November Global Mission prayer guide, so that we may remember the joys and struggles of our partners and programs throughout the world.

In the hope of Christ,
