What is Prayer Shawl Ministry?

Compassion and the love of knitting/crocheting are combined into a prayerful ministry and spiritual practice which reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace, as well as in celebration and joy.

Blessings are prayed into every stitch. The shawl maker begins with prayers and blessings for the recipient and continues those prayers throughout the creation of the shawl. Upon completion, a final blessing is offered before the shawl is sent on its way.

Beginning on Sunday, March 26 and continuing on the 4th Sunday of each month in all four worship services, our Pastors will have a time of prayer and blessing for completed shawls/blankets.

LCOB is blessed to have several members that knit and crochet who have volunteered to work on creating prayer shawls. The first two recipients of these newly created shawls were Gloria Denlinger and Earl Williams.
