Boshart Is Guest Speaker for Missions Sunday

Jeff Boshart, Manager of the Church of the Brethren Global Food Initiative (GFI) and an experienced Community Development professional, is the guest speaker for the Lancaster Church of the Brethren’s second annual Mission Sunday on November 24.

Jeff will preach live in the 8 a.m. chapel service and 10:15 sanctuary service and will lead a combined adult Sunday school class at 9 a.m. in the chapel on the work of GFI and Brethren overseas mission work.

The GFI is the primary way that the Church of the Brethren assists hungry people in developing food security. Since 1983, GFI (formerly Global Food Crisis Fund) has raised over $8 million for community development projects in numerous countries around the globe. GFI seeks to invest in small-scale economic development; join efforts to improve diet and health practices; champion soil conservation; and promote awareness-raising and advocacy on hunger issues. LCOB supports this work through our periodic Two Cents Per Meal offerings.

In addition to his work with GFI, Jeff is intimately involved with Church of the Brethren mission work and sister churches around the world. He has served in the Dominican Republic and Haiti and traveled in Central America and Africa in his work with GFI. He is a graduate of Juniata College and earned a Master’s in International Agriculture from Cornell University. He is fluent in Spanish and Haitian Creole. Jeff lives with his wife, Peggy, and two children on a farmette in Fort Atkinson, Wis.
