“Dead men tell no tales,” according to the old saying. But an empty tomb speaks volumes. Preaching from Matthew’s account of the resurrection in 28:1-10, 16-20, Pastor Don Fitzkee’s Easter Sunday topic is “What the Tomb Tells Us.” All worshippers will receive a small, sweet gift, and children will help celebrate the occasion in all services (via video in the Chapel).
The Sanctuary service will feature the Wrightsville Brass accompanying choral and congregational songs and selections from the Carillon Bell Choir and Chancel Choir. The service will conclude with Handel’s “Hallelujah” (sung by the choir and others who would like to participate) followed by “Toccata” by Widor, played by organist Margaret Marsch. In the Chapel service soprano Carolyn Fitzkee will sing “He Lives.” Matt Kramer is worship leader in traditional services.
In the Contemporary service Matt will sing lead vocals on the opening song “Graves Into Gardens,” the Praise Team will lead music, Bob Wintsch and Megan Lester will lead worship, and Pastor Misty Wintsch will continue her Mystery Box children’s stories. Pastor Selma Gamboa will preach in the 10:15 Spanish service. The Sanctuary and Contemporary services will be live streamed. Links to the services will be posted on Facebook, the church website home page, and YouTube, by Sunday morning.
Easter Quest: More Than the Usual Egg Hunt
Looking for a way for the family to put a little more Jesus back into Easter? Lancaster Church of the Brethren is hosting “Easter Quest: More Than the Usual Egg Hunt” on Saturday, March 30, anytime between 9:00 and 10:30 a.m.
Eggs will still be involved (and some candy treats too). But Instead of plastic eggs filled with candy spread all over the lawn with children racing to get their fill, the grounds around the church will have 18 egg stations to lead participants through an interactive event.
Each stop has a simple activity to do or a question to answer, and a lesson to learn. Participants receive an egg list to check off the matching eggs they have located. The stops are not in any special order and families can move at their own pace. Once they have checked off their egg list, every child receives a reward.
The event is a great way to kick off the season, make memories, and celebrate the love of Jesus.
If it rains, we will offer a modified indoor option. Come and enjoy the fresh air and fun as we remember the joy of Easter!
