Starlight Tea Concert

Saturday, March 23, 2019
7:00 pm

On Saturday, March 23, at 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary, the Starlight Tea Concert Series will welcome pianists, Debra Ronning and Justin Badgerow in a very special benefit concert! These fine performers are both on the music faculty of Elizabethtown College, and each has appeared separately on the series previously. Now, they are literally “joining hands” in a concert of music designed for piano, four-hands.

The program will include Poulenc’s witty and satirical Sonata, an arrangement of Ravel’s orchestral masterpiece La Valse, a lyrical, romantic work titled Silent Woods from the cycle From the Bohe-mian Forest by Antonin Dvořák, and three movements of a rhythmically charged, jazz-inspired work by Nikolai Kapustin entitled Sinfonietta.

This concert is special for another reason: Rather than accepting a personal stipend for their concert, the performers have requested that the offering go to the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation in Glen Mills, PA. Dystonia is a neurological disorder that causes excessive, involuntary muscle contractions, making it difficult for individuals to control their movements. Please help the fight against this poorly understood, debilitating condition!

As with all Starlight Tea concerts, admission is free, with a free-will offering taken. Afterward, please join us in the Gathering Place for tea and cookies, and a chance to meet these talented and generous musicians!
