Wednesday Night Live
Wednesday, October 18, 2017
Each Wednesday evening through November 15, we gather in the Family Life Center at 5:00 p.m. for a tasty supper prepared by our volunteer staff. After the meal, we can participate in various activities, including children’s music classes (contact Jamie Nace to register) and youth activities, as well as interesting adult classes, 6:15 – 7:15 in rooms 162-163.
This fall the adult class is featuring a six-week series by Bob Frick on the wives of modern-day U.S. Presidents, several “Testimonies and Life Stories” from members of our congregation, and a “Bike-Across America” adventure story by local educator Jeff Bradley. The specific class topics in October are:
October 4 – Bob Frick presents the third of the series, Together they made the Modern American First Ladyship, Eleanor Roosevelt to Laura Bush, an apolitical presentation on the leadership style of t he twelve women considered by historians as the modern-day First Ladies, as researched and presented by Robert Frick. This week he discusses Jacqueline Lee Bouvier Kennedy and Claudia Alta Taylor Johnson.
October 11 – Bob Frick presents the fourth of the series on Modern American First Ladies. This week he discusses Thelma Catherine Ryan Nixon, Elizabeth Ann Bloomer Ford, and Eleanor Rosalyn Smith Carter.
October 18 – Bob Frick presents the fifth of the series on Modern American First Ladies. This week he discusses Anne Frances Davis Reagan and Barbara Pierce Bush.
October 25 – Pastor J. Calvin Wenger presents episodes from his life and faith journey, as part of our ongoing series of personal life stories by members of our congregation.
Wednesday evenings are truly alive at the Lancaster Church of the Brethren. We hope you will come and join in the fun and fellowship.
