Musical Associates Brings “Summer Sun!”

On Saturday, August 24, at 7:00 p.m., the Sanctuary will be filled with the joyous sound of Musical Associates: A Chamber Chorus in Lancaster! Under the direction of Emery DeWitt, this summer-only chorus has brought the finest in choral music to our region since 2003. This summer’s series is entitled Summer Sun!, and it features several compositions in the jazz choral style, along with fine traditional compositions by several composers, including noted Brethren composer Shawn Kirchner.

The centerpiece of the concert is John Rutter’s Birthday Madrigals, a five-movement set of jazz-inspired compositions written in honor of pianist George Shearing’s 75th birthday. Accompanying the group will be Mary Ellen DeWitt on piano, David Sheaffer on bass, and Clem Lichty on drums.

As with all Starlight Tea concerts, admission is free, with a free-will offering taken. We hope to see you there!
