Wednesday Night Live

5:15 pm

The spring semester of Wednesday Night Live begins on January 29 and continues for 10 weeks, concluding on April 1. Each week a delicious meal prepared by volunteer cooks is served promptly at 5:15. Since the children’s music classes begin early, we ask that families with children be allowed to go through the buffet line first. We appreciate those of you who can help after the meal to clean off the tables, put food away, and help to stack chairs and tables. You could also volunteer to help run the dishwasher.

After dinner, there is a time of sharing and requests for prayer held in the chapel from 6:15–6:30. From 6:30–7:30 the adult class will focus on “Understanding Islam” for four weeks with the following leaders and topics:

> January 29—“What Muslims Believe” – David Shenk

> February 5—“What Muslims Do” – David Shenk

> February 12—“Anabaptists Engaging Muslims” – David Shenk

> February 19—“Personal Interactions with Muslims” – Jim Eikenberry

David Shenk is part of the Eastern Mennonite Missions Christian/Muslim Relations Team and a world-renowned authority on Christian/Muslim relations. He is an author whose latest book Muslim, Christian, Friend received the book of the year award. He is a retired Mennonite pastor and resides at Landis Homes.

Jim Eikenberry is a retired Church of the Brethren pastor who has pastored Brethren congregations in the area and presently lives in Lebanon. He meets regularly with the imam of the Muslim mosque in the city of Lebanon.

From February 26 to April 1 the class will focus on pro-life issues: “Hot Button Topics That Engage and Enrage Christians.” Various presenters will address the following topics:

> February 26 & March 4—Abortion

> March 11 & 18—Military Service

> March 25 & April 1—Death Penalty

In addition, every Wednesday from 6:30 – 7:30 there is a time of praise and Bible study in Spanish that takes place in room 170.

Hope to see you at Wednesday Night Live January 29 through April 1, 2020.
