Adult Sunday School offers our congregants educational opportunities that touch on a variety of biblical and relevant topics. Classes are held from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. and are open to everyone. Although some are ongoing, new members are always welcome.
Wednesday Night Live
Wednesday Night Live is an evening of fellowship and learning. A simple meal is served at 5:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center. Classes on a variety of topics are offered at 6:30 p.m. beginning in September and usually ending in April. Check our events page to view the lists of classes available for adults, youth, and children.
Prayer, Study, or Special Interest Groups
Wednesday Prayer Breakfast
Time: Wednesdays, 6:45 a.m.–7:45 a.m.
Location: Room 163
Wednesday Prayer Breakfast is a time of simple breakfast, prayers, facilitated meditation, and exploring thoughts concerning key scriptures. The Group has an active ministry of sharing special prayer requests for people with illness, loss, hardships and joys; followed by sending out prayers cards as witness to such prayers said for others. Men and women of all ages are welcome to attend. The Group meets at 6:45 a.m. for pastries and coffee, followed by a time of prayer, mediation, and discussions at 7:00 a.m. For more information, contact David Hosler at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thursday Afternoon Prayer Group
Time: Thursday’s, 12:00 p.m.–12:30 p.m.
For those of our congregation who believe that the power of prayer influences the future of the Lancaster Church of the Brethren, please consider being a part of a Thursday 12noon – 12:30 p.m. prayer group. Our chapel is the site for this fervent prayer effort. Arrive and/or leave any time in the 30 minute time span and attend regularly or occasionally. Silent or spoken prayers are optional.
This communication with the Lord is focused entirely on the future, ministries, purposes and leadership of our church. This is designed especially for those who care deeply about the future of LCOB, especially by the year 2020. Please consider this an opportunity to approach the throne of grace in a united ministry. Climbers group includes men and women, ages 60 and over. The group meets socially at the church, in homes, and at various functions each month except August. Its purpose is to provide opportunities for fellowship, to share concerns, and to assist with service projects.
Cross Culture Connections
Focus of purpose for the cross culture team: Help others to fit in and to adapt to new cultures; Reaching out to the community; Moving from diversity into one body; Providing a community to bring people into; Provide ways to ensure that members are more connected; Explore and expand upon what we have in common.
Homebuilders is a group of men and women, mostly in their 70’s who gather every 4–6 weeks for social, spiritual, and intellectual camaraderie and occasional involvement in community service.
LCOB Ministers meet for a quarterly breakfast to share current happenings and future vision for the church. This group includes all the ordained and licensed pastors, other pastoral staff, and the moderator.
Living Faith is a group of men and women in the 45–60 age range who meet occasionally throughout the year for social purposes.
New Directions is a group of men and women in the 40–50+ age range who meet occasionally for educational purposes and fellowship.
Pathfinders is a group of men and women in the 50+ age range. The group incorporates social gatherings with their passion for completing Church World Service Health Kits.
Seekers is a social group that meets irregularly for planned fellowship and group activities. Age range is roughly 50–65. Seekers also have a prayer chain.
Women’s Fellowship organizes social events and fund-raising projects that benefit both the women of the church and the community. Open to all women.
