Lancaster COB Cancels Seeking First the Kingdom Training Event

Lancaster COB Cancels Claiborne/Sider Training Event

Out of concern for the health of church members and friends from the community, the Lancaster Church of the Brethren has cancelled the March 21-22 Seeking First the Kingdom training event due to the COVID-19 virus pandemic.

The event was to have featured keynote speakers Dr. Ronald Sider and Shane Claiborne, along with several workshop leaders, focusing on the theme of “Living Simply in a Complex World.” Efforts will be made to reschedule the event for March 2021.

In light of the rapidly evolving pandemic, planners determined that it would be unwise to host an event that would bring together people from many locations.

“While we do not want to panic,” said Lead Pastor Misty Wintsch, “we do want to be prudent.” “We don’t want to contribute to the spread of a potentially life-threatening virus, especially since many members of our church family are among demographic groups that face the highest risk.”

Regularly scheduled church services and activities will continue as planned unless changing conditions indicate otherwise. Pastors Misty Wintsch and Don Fitzkee will preach in March 22 services instead of Shane Claiborne.
