Souper Bowl Postponed! Lancaster COB Youth to Tackle Hunger February 14 Instead
Breaking news! The Lancaster COB Youth Souper Bowl has been postponed! (The actual Super Bowl, however, will continue as planned.) Youth are punting due to inclement weather and will tackle hunger one week later than planned as part of the national Souper Bowl of Caring event.
Youth now will welcome food and cash donations to benefit the Lancaster County Food Hub on Sunday, February 14, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at a drive-thru endzone at the church. Pastor Misty and Bob Wintsch will be grilling up hot dogs (served with chips and a drink) to thank anyone who stops by to give.
Football jerseys, cars decorated for a favorite team (even if your team isn’t playing), and horn honking are encouraged.
Types of food needed are: cereal, juice (64 oz.), cans of beans, soup, vegetables, tomato sauce, prepared meals (ravioli, spaghetti), canned meat (tuna, chicken), peanut butter, pasta, macaroni and cheese, rice, dried beans, stuffing, meal “helpers,” condiments, snacks, gelatin, and pudding.
Cash or checks also are welcome. Make checks payable to Lancaster Church of the Brethren with “Food Hub” written in the memo line.
All youth and volunteers participating in the event will wear masks.
Lancaster Church of the Brethren is located at 1601 Sunset Ave., Lancaster, PA 17601, near the Lancaster Shopping Center. For more information, contact Youth Director Linda Byers at email@example.com.
