Giveaway Garden to Grow in Second Year

The Youth Giveaway Garden is happening again in 2021 at the same location by the children’s playground on the church property. We will kick off by tilling and planting on the morning of May 22.  We plan to extend our reach just a bit more and hope to add some vegetables available for harvest early and mid-season. All produce is given away free to anyone from the neighborhood, from the church, or just driving by.

Youth and their families will be serving as the garden caretakers, but we welcome garden enthusiasts to add their extra produce to our harvest box. Peppers, zucchini, eggplant, cucumbers, and tomatoes were our most successful crops last year. This year we’ll try string beans, carrots, and greens, all of which will be started from seeds.

The garden encouraged us all to do something productive through the early stages of the pandemic. Our project was also a witness to the community and an encouragement to our neighbors. We felt God’s blessing in being able to bless others.
