In art circles, the term “chiaroscuro” refers to works characterized by strong contrast in light and dark.  In musical terms, it refers to the interplay between two superb performers!  Cellist Sara Male and pianist Maria Thompson Corley join their substantial talents to create Duo Chiaroscuro, exploring the full range of musical expression.

Sara Male holds degrees from the Victoria Conservatory of Music, Rutgers University and the Mannes College of Music in New York.   She has performed in major venues in the US, Canada, Europe and Asia.  Sara is an adjunct assistant professor of cello at Franklin and Marshall College and is a founding member of the Newstead Trio.

Maria Thompson Corley holds both Masters and Doctorate degrees from the Juilliard School of Music.  She has appeared on radio, television, and concert stages worldwide, including performances in Budapest at the Liszt Academy, and in Carnegie Recital Hall, Aaron Davis Hall and Alice Tully Hall, all in New York City.
