Missions Sunday to Focus on Rwanda

Chris Elliott & Theoneste Sentabire are guest speakers for the June 11 Missions Sunday. They will share preaching responsibilities in a Chapel service at 8:00 a.m. and a combined 10:15 service in the Sanctuary, speaking on the theme of servant leadership with Mark 10:35-45 as the Scripture. A choral ensemble consisting of Richard Boshart; Carolyn, Don, & Floy Fitzkee; Bob Hess; Matt Kramer; Giny Mackey; Charlotte Myers; and Lynn Shively will provide special music in the 10:15 service.
At 9:00 a.m. Brothers Theoneste & Chris will lead a combined adult Sunday school class in the Chapel, featuring pictures and stories about what is happening in the Church of the Brethren in the Africa Great Lakes Region. (Youth and Praise Kidz will meet as usual.)
Theoneste is a Brethren pastor and the principal and lead instructor of the Great Lakes Bible School, which is training Brethren pastors from Rwanda and nearby countries.
Chris is a “sort-of retired” Brethren pastor and dairy farmer from Fulton County, Pa. For the past seven years Chris has been connected with the emerging COB in east central Africa, most recently helping to develop a pastoral training school in Rwanda.
Pastor Selma Gamboa will use the headset system to translate the Sunday school time and 10:15 service for Spanish speakers.
After the 10:15 service all are invited to a ‘Second Sunday’ fellowship meal, followed by outdoor activities and visiting.
