Candles, Carols, Christmas Eve!

JJoin us in the Sanctuary at 6:30 p.m. for our annual Candlelight Christmas Eve Service, as we remember the miracle of incarnation through readings, carols, and music, concluding with candles and “Silent Night.”

The service will include an extended prelude by organist Margaret Marsch and pianist Mary Ellen DeWitt, a children’s time led by Pastor Misty, congregational carols, Scripture readings, a variety of special music, and a brief meditation on “Regifting Done Right,” as Pastor Don Fitzkee concludes the Birth & Rebirth Series.

Special music includes:

  • “Children, Go Where I Send Thee” by the Children’s Choir.
  • Selections from the Chancel Choir, including an arrangement of “Away in a Manger,” the Christmas lullaby “A La Nanita Nana” (sung in Spanish), and “The Work of Christmas” (Forrest).
  • An arrangement of “Infant Holy, Infant Lowly” by the Brethren Heritage Singers ensemble.
  • “Light of the World” by the Praise Team.
  • An arrangement of “O Holy Night” by Jenn & Brooke Smith.

The Holy Family will make an appearance. Amir Shalom Cruz (whose name is Hebrew for “Prince of Peace”), son of Alicia Cruz, will portray Baby Jesus, with his sister Elicia Austin as Mary and Jon Bridgeman as Joseph.
Josh & Stacy Bashore-Steury will light the Christ candle. Scripture readers are Alicia Cruz, Galen & Marianne Fitzkee, Pastor Selma Gamboa, Alex Nye, Jim Rhen, and Pastor Dave Stauffer. Pastor Selma will provide Spanish interpretation through the headphone system. The service will be live streamed for those unable to attend in person
