Give-Away Garden Is Back for Sixth Year
The church’s Give-Away Garden will not lie fallow this summer. In response to a plea (threat maybe?) in last week’s Friday Bulletin, Carolyn Fitzkee and another volunteer have expressed interest in giving some leadership to the project.
Planting Day has been scheduled for Saturday, May 10, at 9:00 a.m. It typically takes a couple hours for a team of volunteers to edge, till, plant, pound in tomato stakes, and mulch. If you would like to help plant on the 10th and/or assist with the garden during the summer, please contact Carolyn.
Begun in 2020 during the pandemic by Linda Byers as a safe outdoor youth activity, the small garden has grown produce to give away to anyone from the community or church who can use it. Some church folks also bring in produce from their own gardens to share in the bins located on the back porch near the playground.
