Palm Sunday Service to Remember Holy Week
The March 29 Palm Sunday service will use scripture, music, symbols, and readings to remember the last days of Jesus’ life. Planned by Pastors Becky Fuchs and Nancy Hess, it will be a combined service in the Sanctuary, beginning at 10:15 a.m. The Chapel service at 8:00 a.m. will feature a shortened version of the service without special music. The Spanish service will meet at 10:15 as usual. No service will meet in the Worship & Event Center.
The combined service in the Sanctuary will begin with the story of Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem as children process with palms. Then the focus will shift to the passion story as found in the gospel of Matthew. Musical selections include “Introit for Palm Sunday” (Robert Lehman) and “When Mary Through the Garden Went” (C.V. Stanford) by the Chancel Choir, “Were You There?” by baritone Matt Fritz, the Praise Team leading “Hosanna (Praise Is Rising)” (Paul Baloche), along with Palm Sunday and Holy Week hymns. Readers in the Sanctuary include Greg Bachman, Josh Bashore-Steury, Doreen Creighton, and Nicole Siegel. In the Chapel service Brian Detweiler and Carol Graham will join Greg and Doreen as readers. Pastors Nancy and Becky will assist in leading worship.
The service will include brief words of appreciation from Board Chair Dave Hosler and Moderator Ken Creighton for Pastor Becky’s service as interim pastor.
