Blue Christmas Service to Offer Comfort

A Blue Christmas or Longest Night service, planned by Pastor Becky, will be held on Thursday, December 18, at 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel. This brief service of readings, music, and candle lighting provides a worship opportunity for people who are having trouble embracing the festivities and joy of the Christmas season.

Reasons for a lack of enthusiasm for Christmas may include the recent or not-so-recent loss of a loved one, financial difficulties, poor physical health, family discord, loneliness, disappointment with life, despair about the state of our nation and the world.

A Blue Christmas service offers an opportunity for quiet reflection on the meaning of Christmas in our lives and our world as well as an invitation to turn to God with our pain and disappointment. Join us for the Longest Night service where you can be reminded once again that God has come to be with us in the form of the Christ child.
