Outdoor Service and Picnic Planned for September 27

The third annual outdoor service and church picnic is slated for Sunday, September 27, on the east parking lot (outside the Worship & Event Center). Worship begins at 10:15 a.m. followed by lunch around 11:30.

The theme for the day is “Imagine,” with a focus on what it means to witness for Christ and a better world as citizens of God’s kingdom. Pastor Don Fitzkee will preach for the first time since returning from sabbatical, and the service will include a variety of congregational music and selections from the Chancel Choir and Children’s Choir.

For lunch, the Witness & Welcome Team will provide sloppy Joe’s, hotdogs, chips, potato salad, macaroni salad, and drinks. Those who can are invited to bring a cold side—salad, fruit, or dessert—to add to the table. Hand-dipped ice cream from an ice cream truck will top off the meal.

Door prizes will be awarded and all are invited to bring a favorite lawn game or just sit and visit.

Some seating will be provided, but worshipers also can bring their own lawn chairs for both the worship service and the picnic. In case of bad weather, both the service and the picnic will be held in the Worship & Event Center. The outdoor service will be the only service that Sunday. Sunday school will meet as usual.
