400+ Enjoy Epiphany Concerts
Despite blustery cold weather on Saturday night that may have dampened attendance, more than 400 people attended our church’s two Epiphany concerts last weekend—179 on Saturday and 225 on Sunday afternoon.
Sunday’s attendance may have been boosted by coverage of Saturday’s concert by LNP|Lancaster Online, which ran an article and several photos online and in Sunday morning’s print edition.
Directed by Matt Fritz, the concert featured more than 50 musicians including our Chancel Choir, which was fortified by members of the Elizabethtown Concert Choir and others; our Carillon Bell Choir; the Wrightsville Brass; and guest percussionists. The program featured choral and bell choir numbers, rousing organ works by Margaret Marsch, and violin and vocal solos by Claire Fritz. The concert culminated with Daniel Pinkham’s Christmas Cantata.
Reflecting on the experience, Matt Fritz said, “Bringing together the church ensembles and students from Elizabethtown College, the University of Delaware, and Westminster Choir College added to the festive nature of the concert. The college students greatly appreciated the opportunity to make music over their winter break, especially at such a high level and with such welcoming ensembles and a warm audience.”
If you missed it or would like to enjoy it again, the concert can be viewed on our church YouTube channel.
