Church Hosts Youth Retreat
Eighteen youth from five churches (Lancaster; Manassas, Virginia; Mt. Wilson; Stevens Hill; and York First), along with their leaders, participated in a youth retreat hosted by our congregation on January 10-12.
The Interdistrict Youth Cabinet, a student group from Bridgewater College advised by Pastor Steve Spire, led the weekend, focusing on 1 Corinthians 12:12-27. Youth participated in small group discussion time and games related to the weekend’s theme.
On Friday Night, Aaron House of Piercing Word performed the Gospel of Mark and shared his personal testimony about overcoming labels as a youth through seeking God and memorizing Scripture. In addition to the youth and leaders, a few “young at heart” folks from our congregation attended the Friday presentation.
Youth and advisors spent Friday night at the church and the group from Manassas also stuck around Saturday night and worshipped with us on Sunday morning.
Volunteers Katrina Bridgeman, David Byers, Alex Nye, Chrissy Wells, and Ashley Wenger assisted coordinator Linda Byers with tasks such as registration, food preparation, and more. George Harmes provided our fabulous breakfast and got our lunch supplies together. The support of the church makes it so easy for us to host youth events like this one. Thank you! –Linda Byers, Director of Children & Youth Ministry
