Seeking First the Kingdom event

The weekend of November 12 & 13 marks the date of our first annual Spiritual Renewal Retreat. As announced earlier, the Rev. Dr. Jeffrey W. Carter, president of Bethany Theological Seminary will be our keynote speaker at two worship services on Saturday, November 12 and again at our combined worship on Sunday, November 13. Dr. Carter’s Saturday morning address is entitled, Seeking Another Way using scripture from Acts 2: 1-12, 43-47 and the afternoon address is entitled, First Things First taken from John 13: 1-17. Sunday’s worship is entitled, An Under the Table Kingdom from Mark 7: 25-30. These addresses along with the subjects of the Seeking Sessions are designed to enhance the retreat theme or Seeking First the Kingdom as Brethren.

Saturday, November 12, Morning – Seeking Sessions (participants to select one)

Devotions/Scripture — Glenn Mitchell—Director of Training & Programs, Oasis Ministries — Explore “Practice & Devotion” that make a real difference in our lives.

Prayer — John Zeswitz—Executive Vice President of Lancaster Bible College — Discover the importance of prayer in our personal & professional life.

Family Focus — Jamie Nace—Director of Children’s Ministries at LCOB — Designed for parents of younger children, with parents & their children interacting & dealing with the subjects of the retreat.

Saturday, November 12, Afternoon – Seeking Sessions (participants to select one)

Spiritual Direction — Glenn Mitchell—Director of Training & Program, Oasis Ministries — Discover what Spiritual Direction is and how it works.

Discipleship/Growing as a Christian — Lee Barrett—Professor of Systematic Theology at Lancaster Theological Seminary — Explore ways of growing one’s faith as a Christian.

For Parents Only — Michael Howes—Pastor of Youth & Spiritual Direction at LCOB — Parents are the most important people in the spiritual growth of youth. Gain practical tools for helping your kids own their faith and keep following Jesus past graduation day.

For Youth Only (grades 6-12) — Rev. Dr. Jeffrey W. Carter — Church why bother? Better reasons than “Because I told you so” to connect with the church.
