Love Feast & Communion

LCOB will observe its spring love feast on Maundy Thursday, March 28, at 6:30 p.m. in the Worship & Event Center.

Patterned after Jesus’ Last Supper with his disciples, the love feast includes feetwashing; a simple meal; and communion. Following the Lenten sermon series, the theme for the service is “Sensing the Story of Jesus.” Pastors Don Fitzkee, Dave Stauffer, and Jim Rhen will offer reflections on various parts of the service and Pastors Misty Wintsch and Selma Gamboa will introduce and guide the communion. The service will include congregational singing; a music video created by our Praise Team; and music selections from soloist Bob Hess and a women’s trio of Carolyn Fitzkee, Mary Ellen DeWitt, and Suzanne Schaudel.

Men and women will be seated separately, with feetwashing taking place around tables. Those unable to wash feet due to mobility reasons who still would like to have their feet washed can be seated next to a deacon to have their feet washed. Handwashing also will be offered as an alternative.

The service will use projected translations and some verbal interpretation so that both English and Spanish speakers can participate.

Following the meal, Children’s Director Linda Byers will take the children aside for an age-appropriate love feast activity. Childcare for younger children will be provided for the entire service. All are invited to participate in the service and anyone who claims Jesus as Savior and Lord may commune.

To learn more about the Brethren love feast or to invite a friend, pick up a brochure in English or Spanish in the Gathering Place.
