Designed to provide a fun, not-so-spooky, trick-or-treat option for kids in our community, church members will decorate the trunk or hatch of their cars and provide treats in the church parking lot. Come. join the fun!
Jazz woodwind players Peter and Will Anderson will present the life and music of George Gershwin at a Starlight Tea Concert on Saturday, October 17, at 7:00 p.m. in the church Sanctuary. The program features an entertaining narrative and live trio performance featuring guitarist Adam Moezinia.
Called “virtuosos on clarinet and saxophone” by the New York Times, identical twins and Juilliard graduates Peter and Will Anderson were born and raised in Washington, DC. They have headlined at venues including The Blue Note, Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, New Orleans Jazz Festival, Feinstein’s 54 Below, and live on Garrison Keillor’s Prairie Home Companion.
One of the most striking geniuses of modern music, George Gershwin composed for Tin Pan Alley, Broadway, film, radio, and symphony orchestras, combining the sounds of jazz and European classical music. Selections will include “Rhapsody in Blue,” “I Got Rhythm,” “It Ain’t Necessarily So,” “Summertime,” and more.
Tea and cookies will be served following the concert. The free Starlight Tea series is supported by patrons and offerings received at concerts. The concert will be live streamed for those unable to attend in person.
